fear: a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid
it amazes me the power that fear has. correction, the power that we give fear. the fear of the unknown, the fear of being rejected, the fear of failure, the fear of being ridiculed, fear i won’t be able to learn a new technique, fear i will screw up, the fear that whatever i order at the restaurant won’t taste good and so i just order the exact same frontega chicken with a side of black beans for the 8 millionth time and these are just some of mine, and the rest of the list is too long for this post! but i know in my heart of hearts that when that fear is faced, and i don’t allow it to paralyze me, the rewards are always: success, triumph, excitement, and joy. so, here’s a really small example of a recent fear i had. i’ve had bigger fears, but for today, i will share this one. ok so my camera and my lenses are pretty, well, amazing!!!! and my camera has video capability. now i knew this when i bought it a reeeeeally long time ago. but i never even tried to use it, why? because of fear….what if my movies suck, what if i never figure out how to work it, what if, what if, what if. in a nutshell, fear. so this year i have designated as the year of no fear 😉 so i thought i would give this video thing a go for the first time today. now, i’m not saying, that i am now a professional videographer (if you need one, i can help you find one) or that this video even minutely resembles a professional video, but it’s a start, my start. so here is my first mini clip starring my little super star of course. hopefully this will be the beginning of many more videos to come!

Anything I’ve ever done that ultimately was worthwhile… initially scared me to death. ~Betty Bender
